The way of the cross leads us to Golgotha,
the Place of the Skull, where Jesus is crucified. “My God, my God, why have you abandoned
me? Father, forgive them; they don’t
know what they are doing. Father, I
place myself into your hands.” With
words of forgiveness he dies and is buried.
Among the people at the foot of the cross is Mary, the mother of Jesus. Wendy, playing the part of Mary, tells how moving the experience was ... and how much more moving it was to become when shortly after she was to experience the sadness of bereavement.
The death of Jesus and the impact that had on those closest to him can help us cope with death, dying and bereavement. You may find help from a church near you in those circumstances - you can contact Find a Church, the UK Church Directory There are organisations like Cruse Bereavement Care, Winston's Wish and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide that can help in such times of sadness. It is good to know that the Samaritans are always there to listen in time of need.
