Over Easter weekend in the Year 2000 the churches of Cheltenham took the story of Jesus on to the streets of their town.
Beginning at mid day on Good Friday, the first four Acts of their Passion Play came to a climax with the crucifixion of Jesus in the town's Imperial Gardens at 3-00, the very hour of Jesus' death.
After a 41 hour interval the crowd returned to the place where he had been buried to celebrate the Fifth Act of their drama, Resurrection.
The play began in Cheltenham's International Friendship Park, Sandfork Park, where many of the ornamental features and flower beds have links with Cheltenham's twin towns.
Act 1, Friendship, tells the story of the life and teaching of Jesus.
